Burger King closes temporarily
For the safety of the community, U.S. Army Garrison Italy has temporarily closed the Burger King located on Caserma Ederle effective Sept. 21. Public Health Command-Southern Europe recommended immediate action because of unconfirmed results of a routine water test.
Additional samples were taken Wednesday and are currently being tested at a certified laboratory. The garrison expects results in 7-10 days and will provide a community update on the findings and recommendations. All facilities on the installation are tested on a routine basis; at this time, the concern is localized only to Burger King. It is important to note that the drinking water in this area is safe. Results found, if confirmed, are because of the facility and NOT the underground water source.
Community members are encouraged to follow the USAG Italy Facebook page (www.facebook.com/vmcitaly), website (www.italy.army.mil), and AFN for updates. The garrison continues to take precautions and will remain proactive to take care of facility repairs, as needed, to ensure safety and compliance.
USAG Italy and AAFES apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to the community and appreciate your patience during this time.
